Cape Town, South Africa
Cape Town is one of the best cities in the world.
Dramatic mountain backdrop, friendly people, cheap market shopping, amazing food*, some really interesting sites including the evocative Robben Island where Mandela and other political prisoners spent too much time, Table Mountain, and the District 6 museum, a tribute to a whole district razed to the ground during apartheid to make way for white people.
Went to an art house cinema and saw a thought provoking South African film, Material which was about reconciliation within an Islamic family.
Shortest blog entry ever.
Cape Town, you do deserve more, but sorry. It’s not you, it’s me.
Next stop: Sydney!
*despite ordering veggie stew and being expected to eat without cutlery – ohhh I’m a princess.
