Cesky Krumlov, Czech Republic
This town was recommended to me by a few unrelated people and so I thought I’d give it a go – it’s lovely. The whole town is actually Unesco listed. As I said to someone, who knew places like these existed outside of Disney cartoons – it’s an immaculately kept, tiny little city with a huge castle on a hill. Narrow cobbled streets stretch out from the tiny medieval town square and there’s a couple of disproportionatly large churches scattered about. The perfectly picturesque town is of course, on a river and there are little bridges every so often with the water moving under them like hundreds of belly dancers.
I visited the Regional Museum and the town has an interestesting and somewhat turbulent history of course, more recently with the Nazis having their eyes on the place and then later it had a bit of a hard time under the Soviet ruling but since 1989 it’s all looking good for them.
